WSOP 2026: Hossein Ensan eliminates defending champion Michael Mizrachi in the Main Event

After Day 5 of the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em World Championship Main Event of the World Series of Poker 2026 at Horseshoe & Paris Las Vegas, it is clear that Michael Mizrachi could not defend his title. However, there were significant eliminations among the DACH players as well.With 533 players remaining at the start of Day 5, defending champion Michael Mizrachi was still in the running along with several other world champions and big names, and many of the DACH players were still well placed. The stakes were definitely higher, and after five 120-minute levels, only 174 players remained.Tom Krist fell with against Christopher George’s flopped straight, along with early bustouts Eoghan O’Dea and Brian Hastings.Knut Karnapp had to say goodbye with queens against Mads Wissing’s aces, and Stephen Chidwick tried to go short with but failed against Zhao Liu’s as the board came . Sasha Liu’s run in the Main Event ended as well. She had already lost chips when she held on the board showing for two pairs, but John Hardie had a set with nines.Tobias Matuschek went out with tens against queens, and Philipp Hasenburger had to leave with jacks against Alex Foxen’s queens.Michael Mizrachi lost almost all of his chips with against Lara Eisenberg’s on the board , but managed to double up with pocket fours against Hossein Ensan’s . Right after that, he doubled up again with against Hossein’s . In the end, however, Hossein Ensan took all the chips back. The Grinder went all-in with against Hossein’s aces, with the board showing , and in this duel of champions, Hossein Ensan came out on top – Michael Mizrachi was sent to the rail.Alex Foxen went into a 3-way pot with against aces and queens, and Dan Stavila was able to triple up with the aces.
