Casino Admiral Mendrisio is located in the Swiss city of Mendrisio in the canton of Ticino, just a few kilometers from the Italian border. This location makes the casino attractive to players from Switzerland and northern Italy. “Only The Barracudas” is one of the poker room’s larger tournament formats. The second edition of “Only The Barracudas” will take place from November 19 to 29. The Main Event offers a guaranteed prize pool of 100,000 euros
There are six Day 1 flights for the Main Event. A unique feature is the tiered buy-in structure. Days 1a, 1b, and 1c have a buy-in of €100. Entry into Days 1d, 1e, and 1f costs €150. Players who join the tournament starting on Day 2a must pay a buy-in of €300. The most expensive buy-in is €400 for Day 2b. In each of the six Day 1 flights, players will receive a starting stack of 50,000 chips. The blind levels last 25 minutes. A total of 18 levels will be played on Day 1.
The structure changes significantly on the two Day 2 sessions. Players who buy in directly on the second day of play receive 200,000 chips and play 40-minute levels. The same level duration applies to the final day as well. After the two Day 2 sessions, all remaining players will be merged into a single field. Everyone who qualifies for the final day after the ten levels of Day 2 will receive prize money of at least €500.
Anyone who has previously won an “Only Mendrisio” tournament at Casino Admiral can use that win to enter Day 1A, Day 1B, or Day 1C of “Only The Barracudas.” Registration takes place on-site at the Admiral Poker Room cashier’s desk. The cashier’s desk opens two hours before the start of each tournament. The premiere of “Only The Barracudas” attracted 817 players, who competed for a prize pool of €100,410. In the end, Alessandro Toninello took home the €25,000 prize.
