WSOP 2026: Fabian Gumz Starts Strong in the $5k NLH 8-Handed

Alongside the Mini Mystery Millions, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2026 started at Horseshoe & Paris Las Vegas with the $1,000 8-handed NLH (#2) on the first day, and there were already many notable players in attendance. Some German-speaking players were also present, with three of them managing to bag chips by the end of the day.

Starting with 50,000 chips, the tournament featured ten 60-minute levels, with late registration open until the end of level 12 and a re-entry allowed. Many well-known names were already in the field, including Shaun Deeb, Viktor Blom, Anthony Zinno, Scott Seiver, Ryan Riess, and others. Several German-speaking players were involved, and three of them successfully bagged chips at the end of the night.A total of 415 entries were recorded, with 142 players remaining at the end. Yuri Dzivielevski took the lead with 715,000 chips. Martin Kabrhel missed the top 10 with 298,000 chips, while Fabian Gumz positioned himself well with 232,000 chips (rank 27). Samuel Ju (52/156k) and Max Neugebauer (88/98k) will both come back for Day 2.Action will resume at blinds of 1,000/2,500/2,500 in level 11, with late registration open for two more levels.
