Starting on October 27, the Unibet DeepStack Open (UDSO) made a stop at the Casino Impérial in Annecy. The €550 UDSO Main Event was the flagship tournament. In the end, Baptiste Celette secured the victory and €65,000 in prize money for first place.
The €550 UDSO Main Event drew 940 entries, creating a fantastic prize pool of €442,176. 128 players finished “in the money.” The min cash was €687.50. In the heads-up match, Baptiste Celette prevailed over Victor Pahon. First place was awarded €65,000. The winner’s story is particularly noteworthy.
Baptiste Celette has been a professional online Spin Poker player for about five years. His participation in Annecy was part of a seminar organized by Spin Elite that combined poker and networking. This team made up about 6 percent of the Main Event participants. As a reward for his loyalty, the Lyon-based player did not have to pay the buy-in for the Main Event. With six players remaining, however, his “fairy tale” seemed to be coming to a premature end. Celette had only about eight big blinds left. But then he fought his way back.
Clément Pabion, who also played for the Spin Elite team in the Main Event, ultimately finished in 11th place. More information is available on the official Texapoker event page.
