Joshua Gebissa has won the Mini Main Event at the Mediterranean Poker Party in Cyprus for a prize of $115,000.
The Mediterranean Poker Party runs until 27 September. Fifteen events will be decided in total. The $1,650 Mini Main Event drew 465 entries. The $662,625 prize pool was shared among 70 players.
The victory, the trophy, and $115,000 went to Joshua Gebissa. The German beat Chengxu Hu ($78,000) from China in heads‑up play. Third place went to Selahaddin Bedir ($54,000).
“Yeah, thanks so much for the congrats. Even though the day and the final table didn’t start out great, things smoothed out pretty quickly after that. Of course, the key hand came at the top 7, when I got aces against queens – and literally right after that, I picked up pocket queens myself and busted the player in 6th. After that, it was pretty smooth sailing. Thanks to Merit for the tournaments, I love playing here!” said Gebissa in the winner’s interview.
