August is Ferragosto season in Seefeld. Many Italians spend their vacations in the Austrian Alps, and the Casino Seefeld is a popular destination. The “Ferragosto Maina,” held from July 29 to August 1, kicked off the (poker) vacation season.
For two decades now, Casino Seefeld has always offered a poker special for Italian visitors. But Tyrolean regulars, Bavarians, and even Swiss players also love to come back time and again to play poker at the most rustic of the Casinos Austria properties. As a result, the four tournaments of the Ferragosto Mania once again attracted a diverse field.
It all kicked off on Wednesday, July 29, with the €100 + 20 Deepstack XL. The prize pool was guaranteed at €6,000, but with 135 entries, the guarantee was more than doubled, bringing the total to €13,500. S.KOB took home the victory and, after a heads-up deal, walked away with €2,890. The €80 + 50 + 20 Bounty on Thursday was also well-attended. Here, too, the prize pool guarantee was doubled with 98 entries; “Hendlmann” from Innsbruck took home the victory and €1,695 after a heads-up deal.
The field was a bit smaller on Friday for the €200 + 100 + 30 Mystery Bounty. But with 63 entries, the €15,000 prize pool guarantee was also exceeded. Although Miami had to settle for 3rd place and €1,800, he collected the most bounties, totaling €3,450. A deal was struck in heads-up play, and in the end, it was Klaus Petri who walked away with €3,200 plus €2,850 in bounties.
The €300 + 30 Main Event ended on a strong note. With 127 entries, the €15,000 prize pool guarantee was more than doubled, bringing the total to €38,100. The winner would have received €9,000, but the final three agreed to a deal. Once again, S.KOB was among them, taking home €6,100 and 3rd place. Simone Pegolotti took home the most money at €7,400 but let short stack Rene Heinricher claim the victory. Heinricher was delighted with €5,800 in prize money, the trophy, and a €50 Cankick gift certificate.
