The RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) is a U.S. live poker tour in which the winners of select tournaments receive a RunGood ring. From October 12 through 18, the RGPS made a stop at the Champions Club Texas as part of the Golden Expedition. The $600 Main Event concluded yesterday with Shawn Murphy taking the title.
The 2026 RunGood Golden Expedition Houston featured 11 ring events over the course of seven days. The highlight of the series was, of course, the $600 Main Event. It featured a guaranteed prize pool of $250,000 and offered six starting flights. With 538 entries, the guarantee was narrowly exceeded. A total of $269,000 was paid out, with the top 49 players cashing. The minimum prize was $1,150.
The 49 players in the money returned to the poker tables for Day 2. After a little over seven hours of play, the heads-up match began. In the final hand, Grant Matatall raised to 1,350,000 from the button with Q♦10♥. Shawn Murphy called from the big blind with A♥8♣. The flop came J♣9♦4♥. After the turn brought a 7♣ and the river a 3♥, Matatall went all-in, even though he had missed all his draws. Murphy called with ace-high and secured the victory for a prize of $51,000.
In addition to the Main Event, the schedule included the PokerNews PowerStack, a Black Chip Bounty, a Pot-Limit Omaha tournament, and a Ladies’ Event, among others.
