The WPT festival in Japan’s capital was set for December. But uncertainty over the legal rules has forced organisers to cancel WPT Tokyo 2026.
Sad news for Japan’s poker community. The World Poker Tour stop in December has been scrapped, with no new date set. The final decision came from the Japan Esports Poker Association. The JEPA said it is “currently difficult” to run the event. Because of gambling laws, tournaments can’t just be held without proper clearance.
Even though the WPT won’t visit Japan, there is an alternative for fans and qualifiers. Tickets can be used for WPT Seoul instead. That event runs from 30 October to 9 November at the INSPIRE Entertainment Resort in Incheon.
