Once again, “The Hendon Mob Championship” (THMC) graced the Grand Casino Liechtenstein (GCLI) from August 18 to 23, presenting not only a hefty CHF 270 + 30 Main Event (CHF 80,000 GTD), but also side events and the first Badgrils Poker Open in cooperation with the Wicket Alliance.
For six days, there was plenty of action for poker enthusiasts in the Alps. Even the CHF 100 + 20 Opener tournament ensured that the CHF 5,000 prize pool guarantee was more than doubled. GCLI regular Ramon Lampert took home the win for CHF 2,505. The next day, another GCLI regular emerged victorious in the CHF 130 + 20 PLO 4/5 tournament; Spartak666 and Oppossum reached a deal, which earned the Ukrainian player Spartak666 CHF 1,460.
Then all eyes turned to the CHF 270 + 30 Main Event. With a total of 549 entries, the CHF 80,000 prize pool guarantee was already more than doubled, and CHF 148,230 was distributed among the money finishers. With long 45-minute levels, the final began on Sunday and lasted well past midnight before Arsenii Hvozdetskyi could celebrate winning over CHF 18,150 following a deal. This wasn’t the Ukrainian’s first trophy, as he had already claimed the CHF 4,800 prize in the CHF 800 + 80 High Roller event, which featured a small field. In the Main Event, he also received the grand trophy and the sponsored SA Millions package.
This package was also awarded to the winner of the Badgirls Poker Open. For the first time, the Wicked Alliance presented the Ladies Tournament with a buy-in of CHF 180 + 20. The tournament easily surpassed the CHF 3,000 guarantee; with 30 entries, the prize pool totaled CHF 5,400. The victory went to Angela Rogan, who secured the package and an additional CHF 2,060. Big Chick finished second—but then struck gold in the CHF 120 + 20 Turbo Closer. With 98 entries, she came out on top and took home CHF 2,050.
Once again, Hendon Mob and GCLI were delighted with their successful collaboration. While THMC moves on, the next highlight at GCLI isn’t far off: from September 10 to 22, twelve gold rings and more than CHF 1,300,000 await at the WSOP Circuit II.
