WSOP 2026: Dennis Weis advances confidently in the Omaha 8 Championship

78 players survived Day 1 of the $1,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship of the World Series of Poker 2026 at Horseshoe & Paris Las Vegas. Dennis Weiss is in the middle of the pack. Philip Sternheimer and Jeremy Trojand also advanced.At WSOP 2026, the next Championship event with Event #9 was on the agenda. The $1,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better 7-Handed is a freezeout tournament. 162 participants entered on the starting day. However, registration is still possible within the first blind level on Day 2.The tables were prominently filled, with familiar faces at the rails as well. Shaun Deeb, Allen Kessler, Richard Ashby, Ari Engel, Viktor Blom, Dylan Linde, Eric Baldwin, Eli Elezra, David “ODB” Baker, and Anthony Zinno were among the players who had to pack up early.After ten blind levels, 78 players remained at the tables. James Chen leads the field with 359,000 chips. Dennis Weiss (31st/127,000) is in the middle of the field, while Philip Sternheimer (59th/50,000) finished in 59th place. Jeremy Trojand (10,000) goes into Day 2 as a short stack.
