A mountain of debt, a bankruptcy proceeding, and several casinos facing closure. High Roller Eric Persson, however, wants to keep the card rooms running with another company.
In the summer of last year, Maverick Gaming filed for creditor protection under Chapter 11. In this bankruptcy proceeding, operations are kept running. It concerned debts between $100 million and $500 million.
Currently, the company operates casinos in the US states of Colorado, Nevada, and Washington. According to Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notifications (WARN) filed in Washington and Nevada, several casinos are to be closed. But there still appears to be hope, because Eric Persson wants to buy up the casinos.
As the American told the Nevada Independent, the holding company RunItOneTime LLC is going through the bankruptcy proceeding, and he is taking over the bankrupt casinos with another company. The fact that Eric Persson also bought the Maverick Gaming name makes it no less confusing.
At the end of the day, however, eight casinos in Washington and two in Nevada are to be kept running, securing more than 1,000 jobs. “There will be no disruption and all the employees will be rehired,” said Persson.
