“Small Ball” is a poker strategy characterized by low risk and conservative betting, with the goal of winning many small pots and minimizing losses. This “tactic,” which was popularized in large part by poker legend Daniel Negreanu, has made its way into the poker world. Holland Casino, the Netherlands’ state-owned casino, is hosting its third Small Ball event at its Valkenburg and Venlo locations from Thursday, October 8, through Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The format has established itself as a staple of Holland Casino’s poker offerings. Over six starting days, players can secure a spot in the final, which will be played in Venlo. The starting stack is 20,000 chips, and unlimited re-entries are allowed during the first 6 levels. The buy-in for the event is €220 + €30. Level duration is 20 minutes on the first few days and 25 minutes on Day 2. On the first days of play (starting at 7:00 p.m.), play will continue until all prize-money positions are filled.
Last October, at the second edition of the Holland Casino €200 + €30 Small Ball event, there were 429 entries, resulting in a prize pool of €87,616. The tournament ended with a deal among the final three players. The three winners each took home prize money of over €12,000.
Anyone who would like to participate this time can reserve a seat at the table through the Casino Holland website.
