The €500 + 50 Showdown at Wörthersee as part of the 2026 European Poker Championship at Casino Velden has begun. Reinhard Faltejsek is the first chip leader; Day 1B follows today.
Players started with 100,000 chips and 40-minute levels, with 15 levels to be completed on Day 1A. There were plenty of familiar faces at the tables; 152 players bought in, with 18 re-entries, bringing the total to 170 entries and already generating €85,000 in the prize pool—and two more flights are still to come.
The field was whittled down significantly over the 15 levels, with only 30 players remaining in the end. Reinhard Faltejsek secured his spot with 1,137,000 chips, and several familiar faces—including Konstantin Hammermüller, Christoph Rapf, and AL—have already advanced to Day 2.
The second flight begins today at 3:00 p.m. under the same conditions; the third flight follows tomorrow, before Day 2 kicks off on Sunday.
